Fixing the Soundsquatch’s Music Bed

This week the Soundsquatch was working on a music bed to use in a video and mixed it down.

He came in the next day to discover that the drums weren’t present enough in the mix for his liking.

Here’s how we fixed it…

1. We had the SoundSquatch record a Cajon kick drum (which was a little high, so we stretched to a bit to lower the pitch).

2. We had the Soundsquatch record a rim shot sort of sound by hitting a box.

3. We layered a clap over that rim-shot sound to give it even more pop. Then we layered it over each beat of the song by hand, and remixed it.

4. Since we had to do half the work, we only gave the Soundsquatch 1/2 a piece od beef jerky.  He was not happy.
